The National Lyme Disease Appeal was initiated in September 2011. The two main goals
of the Appeal are to raise $1 million for research into Lyme disease in Australia and to
raise public awareness of Lyme disease, its causes, symptoms, treatment and prevention.
Pharmacists Australia-wide have the opportunity to play an important role in educating the public on Lyme disease and assisting in understanding a very complex disease with complex treatments. Other businesses, organisations or individuals are very welcome to participate. As part of the Lyme Disease Appeal, the Karl McManus Foundation for Lyme Disease Research & Awareness is pleased to provide you with different grades of educational materials. Donations raised during the Lyme Disease Appeal will go towards funding Lyme disease research at The University of Sydney. The Lyme Disease Appeal has the support of the Pharmacy Guild.
The following resources are available by contacting KMF or educational material can be downloaded:

Pharmacists and pharmacy staff play an important role in helping to educate Australians about their health and safety. We are committed to assisting you in raising awareness of Lyme disease, so that all Australians are aware of preventative measures as well as how to recognise symptoms of Lyme disease, so they can seek further medical assistance. Raising awareness will ultimately result in better health outcomes.
We appreciate your assistance and support of the Lyme Disease Appeal and we believe that you and your customers will find these resources of great benefit. If you require any more information please contact KMF.
